When was the last time a black man was lynched? Over 60 years ago.

I'd say this qualifies: James Byrd Jr.

In a way, maybe, the Byrd murder could be classified as a lynching.

However, there were only two perps: the Republican-dominated government of Texas saw to it that one of the perps got the death penalty (now dead by lethal injection), and the other got life in prison.

In the distant past, the outrageous lynchings by the KKK and other Democrats typically had numerous perpetrators and no subsequent criminal prosecution by local authorities.

The right to a fair trial is bedrock principle of Republicans, who oppose lynchings and other forms of “revolutionary justice” by democratic mobs.
