Same story in Alabama....until January 1861.

The state existed from 1819 to 1861...never having any need for a flag.

You may also want to know that the MS flag may NOT ever be lawfully changed.

When the new law was passed for the current design on 17APR2001, the law stated that the flag’s design was PERMANENT & that it could NEVER again be changed NOR even have another election on “the flag issue”. = The “new design law” passed overwhelmingly in every county in MS, including with the YES votes of over 60% of A-A voters.

Thus, the SEC/NCAA can “go pound sand”. = The flag of MS suits Mississipians just fine, thanks.
