Packet rice brand Uncle Bens, a staple in cupboards and larders across Britain, is set to be re-branded amid anti-racism protests across the world by the Black Lives Matter movement.
In a move they hope will help put an end to racial injustices, bosses behind the well-known brand have today revealed they are set to evolve the visual identity of its products, which are sold in thousands of supermarkets and shops across the UK.
It comes as bosses behind American syrup brand Aunt Jemima, which has in the past been available in UK supermarkets, also announced they would be changing the brands packaging.
Since 1946, Uncle Bens products, including its much-loved microwave rice packets, have featured a picture of a well-dressed elderly African-American man said to be based on a famous head waiter at a Chicago hotel.
Meanwhile Mars Inc., the company who owns the brand, say the name Uncle Ben refers to an African-American rice-grower famous for the quality of his rice.

No more black people on packaging.
Let’s see how they like that.
“Uncle Ben” was used to honor the actual man.
How will eliminating blacks help blacks?
These leftists are sick and dangerous.
Next up, Aunt Jemima.
She’ll be replaced by Karen, the helicopter Mom, PTA head, and HOA regular complainer...
It is interesting how were erasing blacks from packaging, but leaving behind Hispanics, Asian, whites.
No doubt this will soon be realized and addressed.
What if that is really their long range plan?
I guess that big black MLK statue in DC will have to go too.
I’m fine with no blacks on products. Now all they need to do is remove blacks from supermarkets.
I demand Air Jordans be renamed. And replace Mike with Danny DeVito as the spokesperson.
Nothing says “injustice” than a Multi-Million Dollar Brand with a successful African-American Man as a Mascot.
They should put Malcolm X on the box.
For reasons I cannot fathom, Mrs Butterworth is up, too.
I’m waiting to see what the Dixie company does when their turn comes.

Then we need to change the name of New York, named after a visit by major slave trader...
Well they sure caved fast
All this corporate virtue signaling BS impresses only the elites who have nothing better to do that out-woke each other for bragging rights.
Real improvements for African Americans *were* being realized for the first time with record high employment numbers, right up until the same woke bastards decided they could detonate the economy with the Covid-19 scare.
Taking out Pres. Trump was more important to them then the livelihood of African Americans. In fact, improving economics for African Americans was a bad thing for leftists, because leftists don’t want people to make it on their own.
Uncle Ben was a real rice farmer known for the quality of his rice and a business associate of Mr Mars who owned the company.
Apparently honoring successful African American farmers and businessmen is raycist
.
The irony of all the corporate whitesplaining is that surveys done on brand preferences show that Aunt Jemima syrup is most popular in the black community by a wide margin. It as seen as affirming positive traditional qualities of the black family and especially black women.
