Four of Tom Petty's family members came together Saturday night to quickly release a statement blasting the president for using the rockers I Wont Back Down at his Tulsa campaign rally, saying Petty would never want a song of his used for a campaign of hate. He liked to bring people together.
The statement said that Donald Trump was in no way authorized to use this song to further a campaign that leaves too many Americans and common sense behind. Both the late Tom Petty and his family firmly stand against racism and discrimination of any kind.
The declaration was signed by Adria and Annakim Petty, his two daughters, as well as both Dana Petty, his wife at the time of his death in 2017, and Jane Petty, his former wife. They end the note by saying they will be filing a cease-and-desist order against the campaign.

so he’d be for the violence and rioting of the wonderful antifa racebaiting terrorist murderous thugs
gotcha, ‘family’
Oh...poo poo
So to prove their point they spew out some hate.
Trump needs no authorization to use a druggies song if its available to anyone to use for money.
Besides, the family has to know that Tom Petty would have been a Trump supporter by now.
Can they get away with this and stop
him? Royalties would be paid. Maybe
a film based on it would have to get
permission.And maybe youtube rebroadcasts
would mute the song based on a
copyright claim.
Stones objected to him using You Can’t
Always Get What You Want.
Crank it up.
Give me a freekin’ break!!
Yes, I thought there is a legal structure in place, for the use of music. And that if the artists in question have made their music available for public use, that anyone who pays the appropriate royalties can use their music at events.
Anyone knows more, or if I’m wrong, please let us know.
This entertainment crowd really needs some intervention.
Too Bad.
Might I suggest he use It’s Good to be King....that would surely explode some heads.
Thats petty.
Both the late Tom Petty and his family firmly stand against racism and discrimination of any kind.
Then, why aren’t they denouncing BLM, Antifa and Joe Bin Hiden?
Come out against Christian bakers, florists, and photographers not having to work gay weddings and I’ll believe you’re not a bunch of hypocrits.
He’d be living like a refugee.
Would he back down?
Still no comment from Tom. The waiting is the hardest part.
Yeah, I seriously doubt old Tom is doing any standing of any kind right now unless they buried him feet first
