The British slave trade in whites also included Scots during the Highland Clearances and after the Jacobite Rebellions, along with poverty stricken and criminally convicted Englishmen and Welshmen, as well as Irish rebels. A good book on the subject is They Were White and They Were Slaves, by Michael Hoffman.
