What a load. Why require them outside? Even the CDC doesn’t recommend that. And what the hell is “an outdoor public space, wherever it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distancing from another person not in the same household”? Does that mean a cop can make me wear a mask on the sidewalk?

Absolutely ridiculous. I had been rather proud of Abbott before.

Because the alternative is worse. I’m a Trump supporter not because I agree with everything Trump does. It’s just that I agree even less with what the Democrats do.

“If it happens we are F*^#”D”

Not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.

I’m hoping President Trump is reelected and the GOP keeps the Senate. That will give us 4 more years until the inevitable comes to pass.

The Texas Constitution does not give Abbott the right to do what he is doing and the untested “law” he is using for this is even more bullshit.

All right, here are the details:

Every person in Texas shall wear a face covering over the nose and mouth when inside a commercial entity or other building or space open to the public, or when in an outdoor public space, wherever it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distancing from another person not in the same household; provided, however, that this face-covering requirement does not apply to the following:

1. any person younger than 10 years of age;

2. any person with a medical condition or disability that prevents wearing a face covering;

3. any person while the person is consuming food or drink, or is seated at a restaurant to eat or drink;

4. any person while the person is (a) exercising outdoors or engaging in physical activity outdoors, and (b) maintaining a safe distance from other people not in the same household;

5. any person while the person is driving alone or with passengers who are part of the same household as the driver;

6. any person obtaining a service that requires temporary removal of the face covering for security surveillance, screening, or a need for specific access to the face, such as while visiting a bank or while obtaining a personalcare service involving the face, but only to the extent necessary for the temporary removal; 8. any person who is voting, assisting a voter, serving as a poli watcher, or actively administering an election, but wearing a face covering is strongly encouraged;

9. any person who is actively providing or obtaining access to religious worship, but wearing a face covering is strongly encouraged;

10. any person while the person is giving a speech for a broadcast or to an audience; or

11. any person in a county (a) that meets the requisite criteria promulgated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) regarding minimal cases of COVID-19, and (b) whose county judge has affirmatively opted-out of this face-covering requirement by filing with TDEM the required face-covering attestation form—provided, however, that wearing a face covering is highly recommended, and every county is strongly encouraged to follow these face-covering standards.

Not excepted from this face-covering requirement is any person attending a protest or demonstration involving more than 10 people and who is not practicing safe social distancing of six feet from other people not in the same household.

Because cops don’t have the time to spend following people into stores, and store employees aren’t going to hassle customers who might inflict physical harm on them (e.g. the Michigan Family Dollar murder, and a number of ag assaults that made the news).

Liz Cheney - Votes to Stay in Afghanistan/Germany
John Cornyn - Suggest Juneteenth Holiday in place of Columbus Day

Wouldn't be a surprise if Trump did loose. So many republicans upset and may stay home.

No, you just keep businesses open, period. Many businesses are requiring tests for return to work, esp. medical support staff. Watch Tucker or listen to Prager for real numbers.

Politician are scared to death that if they don’t do exactly what Dr. Fauci and anyone else who makes a demand to prevent the spread of COVID-19, their political careers will be terminated. And they are right. All of the Democrats and one half of the Republicans (mostly women) will turn them out. Facts don’t matter, fear is driving all of this.

Texas would be a great venue to challenge this garbage and produce a case that might be cert.-worthy. Even if SCOTUS docketed it but eventually rejected it in 3 months, that's a window to publicize the case:

You all in Texas get off your solar plexus and demand the goddamn truth!

People should sue. I’d be damn if I’d wear a fraking mask in Texas heat outside.

He can go kick rocks.

I’m glad this hyped up COVID nonsense and the riots have exposed the ruling elites for who they are.

Republicans are the stop gear in a ratchet. The wrench always moves to the left, Republicans refuse to roll back any progressive gains, As a conservative, they stop all movement and enforce the status quo. When the left is back in power, they move the ratchet further to the left, the Republican gear catches and preserves that new position. The rent she never stops turning left. Republicans are worthless

>He wants to avoid more extreme measures and keep businesses open.

From the flu ???

So now this will become a regular thing in the fall ?

By every measure the ChiCom flu has not been the deadly plague that was predicted back in March, and even then those who pushed this idiocy excused the massive gatherings of "peaceful protesters" as not being a health risk, thus proving they knew all along that the danger of this virus has been greatly exaggerated for political gain.

So now a supposedly "Republican" governor with common sense goes full on village idiot.

NO THIS STOPS HERE.
