Its Getting Better All The Time.

ITS GETTING BETTER ALL THE TIME , , ,

On a cheerful note I am rereading a book titled "Its Getting Better All The Time:

100 Greatest Trends Of The Last 100 Years, by Stephen Moore and Julian Simon.

Here are a couple of comments from the blurbs:

"A refreshing breath of optimism and sanity amidst all the gloom and

doom."__John Stossel ABC News

________

"This book is so chock full of good news that it's virtually guaranteed to cheer up

even the clinically depressed.

Moore and Simon dismantle the doomsday pessimism that's still so commonplace

in academia and the media.

The evidence they present is irrefutable:

Give people freedom and free enterprise and the potential for human progress

is seemingly limitless."__Lawrence Kudlow, Chief Economist, CNBC

_______________

ABUNDANCE , , ,

I am reading another book that is cheerful and uplifting to the human sprit.

The title is Abundance : The Future Is Better Than You Think by Peter

H. Diamandis and Steven Kotler. {Peter H. Diamandis is on You Tube.}

Here are a few quotes from the blurbs on the back cover:

"This brilliant must-read book provides the key to the coming era of abundance

replacing eons of scarcity.

Abundance is a powerful antidote to today's malaise and pessimism."___Ray Kurzweil

________

"This is an audacious and powerful read! Abundance shows us how today's philanthropists,

innovators, and passionate entrepreneurs are more empowered than ever before to solve

humanity's grand challenges." ___ Jeff Skoll

________

"Our world faces multiple crises and is awash in pessimism. Abundance redirects the

conversation. spotlighting scientific innovators working to improve people's lives.

The result is more than a portrait of brilliant minds -- it's a reminder of the infinite

possibilities for doing

good when we tap into our own empathy and wisdom." ___ Arianna Huffington

________

One more quote from the inside cover:

"Since the dawn of humanity, a privileged few have lived in stark contrast to the

hardscrabble majority. Conventional wisdom says this gap cannot be closed.

But it is closing -- fast."

______________

Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think has 386 pages

and is a gripping read especially if you love people and have an interest in the

future and have a continual prayer

in your heart to God that He will increasingly bless and provide for His people all over

this world that He has created.

I personally have a keen interest in the future and in helping organizations that

are helping people.

Not only does my wife and I support our local Baptist Church with our tithes and offerings,

but we also support Compassion International by sponsoring a child in one of the Third World countries.

In addition to that we help support Samaritan's Purse which has as it's motto "Helping In Jesus Name.

God has blessed America with an $18 trillion dollar annual economy, and I thank God for that.

It has been said that "There is no limit to what God will do for the man that will use what God has given

him to help others." "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over,

will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Luke 6:38

You cannot out give God.

GOD BLESS AMERICA.

It is human nature for many to be pessimistic, but the authors of these books are not wrong. There has NEVER been a better time to be a human being than today in almost every country.

However, there will be always be a disconnect with liberal academia. They live for anger and self-loathing and many of them have prestigious degrees in navel gazing so they can preach to the rest of us (and teach our children) about how and why we are so evil and why life sucks.

The problem is that for all this wonderful stuff to continue requires civilization.

________

Volunbeer,

* Thanks for your comment.

* Much appreciated. You are so very correct in all you say.

* The Liberals are indeed gloom and doom.

* Even some good Conservatives within Christendom
proclaim gloom for the future.

* I myself side with the optimistic ones {Postmillennialists}
within Christendom and I believe the
Christian future is bright, cheerful,
and full of Faith and Hope.

Regarding Postmillennialism:
* Anybody who loves Victory and loves an optimistic
cheerful up-ward mobile positive constructive
approach to the Christian future ought to read
“He Shall Have Dominion” by Dr. Kenneth Gentry.

* Here is a description of this work from the blurbs.

Start quote.
“In this greatly expanded and wholly
updatedd version of Dr. Gentry s
classic study of postmillennialism,
you will sense anew the powerful
message of Psalm 72 that Christ
shall have dominion from sea to sea
(Psa 72) You will learn that God’s
word promises that the Whole earth
will be filled with his glory so
that all nations will call him
blessed (72:17) - before Christ
returns. Many evangelicals today
are concerned about those being
Left Behind on this Late Great
Planet Earth as it collapses into
absolute chaos. But the
postmillennialist optimistically
believes that He Shall Have Dominion
through the Spirit-blessed labor of
his blood-bought Church by its
faithful obedience to the New
Covenant. In this book you will
find the whole biblical rationale
for the postmillennial hope, from
its incipient beginning in Genesis
to its glorious conclusion in
Revelation. Your faith will be
re-invigorated as you begin to
recognize that the gospel is the
power of God unto salvation
(Rom 1:16) and that our Lord
Jesus really meant it when he
commanded us to go and make
disciples of all the nations
(Matt 28:19).
End quote.

* here is an excellent definition of Postmillennialism:

“Postmillennialism holds that the Lord Jesus Christ established
His kingdom on earth through His preaching and redemptive
work in the first century and that He equips His church with the
gospel, empowers her by the Holy Spirit, and charges her with
the Great Commission to disciple all nations. Postmillennialism
expects that eventually the vast majority of men living will be
saved. Increasing gospel success will gradually produce a
time in history prior to Christ’s return in which faith,
righteousness, peace, and prosperity will prevail in the
affairs of men and nations. After an extensive era of such
conditions the Lord will return visibly, bodily, and gloriously,
to end history with the general resurrection and the final
Judgment after which the eternal order follows.”
___ Dr. Kenneth L. Gentry.

_______

I posted all that up there for all those who
may read this thread and who are optimistic souls
looking for some strong support for their optimism.
amazon.com has Dr. Gentry’s “He Shall Have Dominion”
I have this work in my Library and its a magnificent
work that presents a victorious future for Christianity
and for the human race.

Another very good work is titled:
“Postmillennialism: An Eschatology Of Hope
by Keith A. Mathison

Both these works harmonize perfectly with the
two books I mentioned in my Opening Post.

* I understand how you feel.

* However our side is going to win.

* Its packed with good-hope and good-cheer.

* Its impossible to defeat God and His Plan for
the human race.

I like the tone of the author's theme, but there are challenges. While I agree that there has never been so much abundance available to so many, much of it is due to automation, and the pace of automation is still ramping up.

We are at that awkward stage between "Player Piano" and "Star Trek". We have, to borrow a term from Dickens, surplus population. It's not that there is too little food clothing and shelter to keep them comfortable, but the social rot that spreads as a result of entitlement and sloth lead to our present troubles with the terrorist blm and antifas.

If we were to give them free everything (which they already have for the most part) they would still be rioting and murdering, just because. Idle hands create spoiled bands of ferals.

The rest of us just keep plugging along, working, and trying to make our little corners of the world pleasant and productive to produce that plenty which other enjoy - and then destroy.

Maintaining optimism is a daily struggle. I do not have to work in a coal mine, or toil in a field (thank you John Deere), so there is that.

_____

Sirus Lee,

* Thanks for those interesting comments.

* You made some very good points.

* Some Miscellaneous Points:

{1} The hope/solution lies in the future.

(2} The future is controlled by God.

{3} God has good future Plans for His human race project.

{4} The human race has always made
significant progress in all areas over the
centuries.

{5} The human race is in its infancy, we’re only
in about the Third Grade, and we have many
millenniums yet to go before we will graduate
up to say the Fifth Grade.

{6} The solution to the 21st Century will be
the 22nd century.

{7} The Sovereign God will never be defeated by
human sin and stupidity.

{8} The Mob now in the streets will continue
to cause problems for many years yet ahead.

{9} Christianity and Conservativism cannot be
defeated by the imperfections of human beings.

(10} Science and Technology implemented and guided
by the Sovereign God, will become a significant part
of the coming solutions to America’s social and
political problems.

(11) Conditions are very UNLIIKELY to get as bad
as they were in World War 1 and World War 2, and
we survived all that and have today all the
benefits of the 21st century -— in spite of all
that disaster that was WW1 and WW2.

(12) Christianity and Conservativism can endure a huge
amount of “acceptable losses” and keep right on
going. I hope it don’t come to that.

(13} The Upper Class and the Middle Class
have not yet “been touched” ENOUGH to cause
them to become “Spartan Warrior types” and
rise up and put an end to all this Marxism
and Mob Socialism we see in America today.

{14} If the Upper Class and the Middle Class
are NEVER “touched enough” then we don’t have any
serious problems.

(15} As time goes on, Science and Technology is
going to produce more and more people in the
Upper Class and Middle Class.

/just some thoughts I had {1} through {15}

I will be glad to classify them as
my personal opinions.

* Just a note to say thanks for your kind
words in the PM.

* I have a prayer for you {and for me and for all}

May the Lord greatly bless you.
May the Lord keep you safe.
May the Lord make His face to shine upon you.
May the Lord be gracious unto you.
May the Lord turn His face toward you.
May the Lord give you peace.
May the Lord protect you from all harm.
May the Lord protect all those you love.
{Based on Numbers 6:24-27)

God Bless.
