VANITY: Greatest National Anthem Ever. NHL All Star Game 1991. Will give you chills.
Youtube ^ | Circa 1814 | Francis Scott Key

Wayne Messmer sings the National Anthem at Chicago Stadium during the '91 NHL All-Star game, days after the U.S. went into Iraq at the start of the Gulf War. He is nearly drowned out by the crowd.

This was broadcast live to the troops in the Middle East, and Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf played this for his soldiers to show them the support they had from the American public.

Where are those people today?

I flew home after an extended stay with my first granddaughter. Wearing my Keep America Great Trump 2020 hat. Greensboro - Atlanta - Tulsa. Only positive responses. Thumbs up all around. The Black bartender in Atlanta was very positive, he was a conservative. Married 14 years to the same woman. 2 children.

I do have hope for this next election, but I will fight like we are 20 points behind.

Thanks for sharing. I tear up every time I hear our National Anthem. When I try to sing it, I get very emotional, and choke up. Sure I'm an old lady, but it's been happening for a long time. It just means so much to me. Same thing with Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA." I just listened to his new version with U.S. Air Force singers, and it is amazing, and touches the heart strings even more than the original version:

"God Bless the USA."

“When I try to sing it, I get very emotional, and choke up.”

This is why I can’t join the Choir at church! The hymns are SO beautiful, I can’t get through them without crying.

I can’t get through a church service without at least tearing up, minimum! ;)

I have posted that video a few times. Did you know that singer was shot in the throat in an attempted robbery? He survived. I believe it was a misguided yoot who shot in the “gun violence” act.

Jerks a tear. But I was pulled back to reality. Chicago Blackhawks are racists. I have learned how to think correctly.

One of the best 4ths I ever had was watching the fireworks being held at a country club a couple miles from my house.

My kids and I walked over to a nearby church and sat in their front lawn with a bunch of neighbors to watch. My kids and I started to sing “God Bless the USA” and then my neighbors did too! Loved it.

Thanks for posting this rendition. Beautiful! Made my eyes leak!

There is always some hope for the NHL.

For the rest of Capitalist Sports? Not so much.

A muslim family we have known for several years, and seen their children grow up, stopped for a matter. One daughter got out of the van, and was wearing a MAGA hat. We cheered the hat, and another sister said she wanted to take it off. the hat wearer said, No way. I wonder if there is support in the muslim communities.
