Yes, our biggest sickness today is affluenza. We have it too good and fail to appreciate it and so look for any irritant no matter how small to fight over and destroy what they don’t appreciate .
The good news is that affluenza contains its own remedy in that once the ingrates kill the goose that lays the golden egg, they will then appreciate what they had. The bad news is that it’ll take a long time to revive the golden goose.
I agree with the guy that when things get too easy people get bored and look for other things to fill their lives. Without any religious meaning to give direction to their lives they look at any other source for purpose and they find it our social condition, inequalities no matter how small seem to be their main attractions.
I also agree that this phenomenon is part of human nature, but not all humans suffer from it. In fact it is a relatively small percentage that are afflicted by affluenza. It is what we call the left, the elites, the intelligentsia, the self anointed intellectuals.
Most “normal” people appreciate the affluent times and readily accept and understand whatever inequalities might exist.
