There was a black singer who played Batwoman in the 60s.
Eartha Kitt played CATwoman near the end of the 60’s TV show run.
Just how little black blood can you be, and still call yourself black? Could just be the film quality, but this woman looks like she’s got barely any black heritage at all.
“ICONIC” role?
Really??!?!?!? The character has existed for maybe 15 years total..
I don’t consider “BATWOMAN” an ICONIC character in Comics at all....
Had a 2-3 year run as its own title, in all that time...
Basically a supporting character to check off some inclusion boxes.... calling this character “ICONIC” is like calling Booster Gold or Blue Beetle Iconic.
And people said I was over-reacting when I was pissed about Heimdahl the WHITE being played by Idris Alba.
Now we have Liet Kynes in Dune being a black female, Death in the upcoming Sandman Netflix being played by a black woman, the Little Mermaid live action, Cinderella Fairy Godmother, every damn tv commercial now featuring exclusively black/mixed couple/gay...
I’m all for inclusion though... So when do we get Chris Hemsworth playing Kunta Kente in the Roots remake? How about Nicole Kidman as Harriet Tubman? Maybe John Goodman reprising Ice-T’s role in the next Friday franchise movie...
After all, if it ISN’T about Race and the destruction of Western Culture, than it ought to go BOTH WAYS shouldn’t it?
