Schumer wants federal government to boost funding for schools to reopen
NY Post ^ | July 12, 2020 | Mark Moore

Sen. Chuck Schumer on Sunday said if the Trump administration wants schools to reopen safely in New York and across the country this fall, the federal government will have to boost funding to help with some of the costs.

“Everyone wants our schools to reopen, but the federal government must lead the way by funding the safety measures that would open the doors of New York and the nation’s schools in a way that helps ensure the coronavirus does not needlessly spread or infect teachers, kids or staff,” the New York Democrat said during a briefing.

This is a carefully crafted pack of LIES concocted by Schumer to get some federal money that DumblASSio can't attract. Do you really think that more than a piddling amount of $175 BILLION dollars would go to anything remotely having to do with education? Then I have a bridge in Saudi Arabia to sell ya.

Why, for example, do "students of color" feel challenges "disproportionately" vs. white, Asian, or Hispanic students? Why is the $175 BILLION dollars needed to "save teaching jobs"? What is this garbage about "preserve child care slots"? Is that what school is to idiots like Schumer? Just "child care"? How would this support efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect? And why should the public provide "tuition relief"?

Let us not forget DumblASSio demonstrating HIS primary priority: using taxpayer money to join tax criminal Sharpton and grifter Mrs. DumblASSio in painting a racist slogan on a publicly funded street, for purely political reasons. So if he had money for paint, he has money for the other stuff.

This request should be laughed off by Trump. I'll help. Hee hee hee, libtard morons; drop dead.

Schools saved a ton of money this year. Maintenance people were let go months ago. Boilers were turned off long ago. Nothing happened at the schools for months.

Then we can be tied with Japan.

The schools all asked for property tax increases and they got them. It doesn’t even matter that they saved a bunch of money by having the schools shut down.

Screw you Schumer/Pelosi and your Democrat Party scum and vermin pack of low lifes. Give these crook criminals not a cent...not a red cent, POTUS. Let Cuomo & De Blasio in NY cough up the bucks to run the schools they destroyed. Force the teachers unions to take pay cuts...period and...if they balk, fire everyone of them. They can be replaced overnight, just as the wise butt Air Traffic Controllers were fired and replaced immediately by POTUS, Ronald Reagan in 1980!!!

If New York cannot afford to reopen the public education system, then people will just have to home-school their kids.

“If New York cannot afford to reopen the public education system, then people will just have to home-school their kids.”

Or maybe a subdivision with a lot of young families could hire some out of work or retired teachers to teach their kids using available curricula on line.

Well most of us want to dress Chuck up in a baby seal costume and play batter up. Just goes to show, you can’t always get what you want! Tell Chuck to get it from his BLM slush fund that Fat Bill Barr won’t look into.

our local teachers stayed home and supposedly did home teaching....$100,000 ....

teachers do not need anymore pay nor days off nor anything including a $200 tax credit because they buy sooo many supplies....

my new idea is that essential workers who have faced this pandemic WORKING should have a tax holiday....March thru June minimum...

The school districts in the SF Bay Area are all pretty much opting for 100% online for next year. Decisions are being made this week. If we are lucky we will get “hybrid” which means 2 half days a week for in person instruction. And Fridays “off” for “cleaning” and “teacher prep.”

I’ve moved my teen daughter to a private Christian school which is planning in person instruction as of a few weeks ago, and plan to also move my teen son to a pretty good 100% online private program. Goodbye public school.

Despite this ridiculous idea of Schumer, the fact that he’s indicating schools should open up is a very good sign that they will!
