The Sheriff was elected by voters of King County. The Seattle City Council and Mayor have no authority over the Sheriff.

I’m over in Kitsap county. Like your area, around here very few give a hoot about Seattle. Inslee has so many pissed off he’s probably gone in Nov, but they’ll recount their way to a win just like they did with Rossi.
Either way though we’re close enough that Seattle’s insanity will likely impact us, so we’re seriously considering a move.

I was responding to your statement that a city council could dictate what a County Sheriff can and cannot do to carry out his responsibilities.
Elections have consequences.
The second a police force follows an illegal order from their mayor or city council (such as standing down or sending out a message that people are on their own since they were ordered not to use their tools), they have become corrupted and are as at fault as the one who gave the illegal order.
