Before the shutdown when I would go out to restaurants or to shop I would often be referred to as 'boss'.

I found this a bit disconcerting, especially when the person saying this was Black.

I still call the guy who hired me boss.

I also call some of my friends that. It's kind of a term of endearment or friendship.

Our society gets to "triggered" over too many words.
