There was a survey in northern Italy in May that looked at rheumatoid arthritis and lupus patients who were on HCQ maintenance. Out of the total of 65,000 people, 20 contracted COVID-19 and none died. I haven't seen updates on this since May. But the COVID incidence in this group was 12x lower than in the general Italian population, and if you compared them with a similar age group it was an estimated 50x lower. And the death rate was zero. Seems pretty convincing to me.
I have heard that some doctors are taking this as part of the study and seem to be doing quite well. I have also heard that there are a lot of doctors doing this for themselves to protect their families as not part of the study. Its funny what you hear when you listen. Just sayin.
