Every time I was on the bottom deck of the Cypress Structure I’d look up and wonder what it would do in an earthquake.
Every. Single. Time.
I had driven there the day before the quake. My wife had to take BART from Fremont to SF every day. I couldn’t imagine being in the tunnel during an earthquake or stuck there.
Trucks above would make the lower deck jump in some spots, though you only noticed that when stuck in a traffic jam.
