Ill go out there but somehow I never get to see one :( Heres hoping I do tonight.
Naturally, after days of clear skies and white fluffies, a nice big overcast rolled in today.

You better duck if you go outside. You might get hit by space rocks.

Thanks!! You made me think of my brother who would come up from Presidio and take me n my kids “out east” to watch the meteor shower. The kids are bigger n we have to drive further east to get away from the city lights.
Hm, wondering why Smithsonian wasn’t busy pointing out some connection between Perseid Meteor Shower and white privilege, or something.
We have a “cold” front hanging a bit north of us, generating clouds, showers and t-storms. (Got an inch of rain tonight - at least part was spread out over a few hours so some should soak in.) It looks like this will be the pattern the next few days. So, if that front doesn’t progress further south than forecast, we may get more showers, but, at least visibly, not of the space rocks kind. At least some of the lightning was fun to watch. We got a real blast of an outflow boundary earlier, too.
I just don't buy this.
No other solar system objects always appear at the same location in the celestial sky; just these various meteor showers.
And if the earth truly passed through a cloud of debris, that debris would be attracted to the earth from all directions as we passed through it.

The only time I was able to see a good meteor shower was about 1978, and it may have been the Perseids...don’t remember.
Laid out in ghe bed of my truck, had some couch cushions in it, had a beer and just watched. Now I wish I had brought a camera. At times I saw 5 or 6 at once. Incredible...finally crawled off to bed around midnight with more still flying around, had to be up for work at 6...
I’ve gone out and watched a few times since, never even saw one...not one...oh yeah, one last year...just one...
