Baseball? Hmmm... Baseball? I’ve heard that word before.
Wasn’t that a pro sport or something at one time until the marketeers got a hold of it?
A moment from back in the time that sports were sports - not a megamillion gig, not the opportunity for showcasing a favorite Leftist cause, not a haven for criminals.
Nor do I believe Bobby went to his grave knowing that there's a Thomson Avenue in Springfield Township, Delaware County, PA.
Continue to RIP, Bobby.

Willie Mays was 18 and on deck, he is the only player still alive from that game.
I recall watching that home run with my grandfather in his living room on a tiny screen TV with a huge magnafying glass in front of the screen. We were both yankee fans were neutral on the giants but hated the dodgers. Alas those happy days of summer are gone and are never going to return.
Mostly because baseball is unknown over there.
Funny that in all the blabber, yaking, and fuss the writer never mentioned the guy who threw the pitch that Thompson hit...Ralph Branka. Effectively ended Brankas baseball career.
Werent the Giants stealing signs? Yeah, I know, he still had to hit the thing over the fence but its a whole lot easier when youre cheating and know what pitch is coming. And they never would have played that game if they hadnt stole signs to force that one game playoff.
Bobby Thomson played in the first baseball game I ever attended. It was at the Polo Grounds, Jansen vs. Spahn, in 1951. I was not yet five years old.
Now every home run called on the radio sounds as if it were “The Shot Heard ‘Round the World,” baseball players have become advocates, and I just don’t give a sh*t anymore.

The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!
