Anything over 5-6 feet is too much.

A replacement shovel handle made of hickory or ash is perfect.

Though I prefer the Mossberg 590.

Actually I like the length and have had some basic training with it

Beauty of it is I can generally keep and opponent who isn’t skilled and equally armed from staying on the feet very easily and add end the velocity of the end that is acquired from even a 6-8 inch pull or twitch on the other and you’ve got some magic

For years the medieval equivalents of riot police very much favored qs over cudgel/club

However, if you have no practice or training that extra length may be useless or even detrimental

I’ve recently thought of a maddox handle. It is innocuous yet easily made useful in a split second. The top edge with the correct swing has a pounds per square inch advantage even above a bbb.
