Suspended Liberty University leader Jerry Falwell Jr. confirmed to Washington Examiner columnist Paul Bedard late Sunday that his wife, Becki Falwell, had an affair with a young man they befriended and went into business with in Florida eight years ago. In a long statement, Falwell said he and his wife "forgave each other" — he suggested he had also "important smaller things" to atone for, quoting a Bible verse about visual adultery — and had decided to come forward because his wife's former lover had been extorting them for "huge amounts of monies" to stay quiet.

When the pool guy - business partner - asked for hush money he should have said ‘NO’... People are much more forgiving if you ask for forgiveness BEFORE you’re caught.Paying this man off was an admission of on-going guilt. I’m guessing there were financial ‘mistakes’ in the business too...
Falwall Jr. was born on third and thought he hit a triple. He needs to find a different line of work.
I’m guessing there’s more to the story too. I’ll bet the Falwells were crooks in their business dealings too... very few ‘pool boys’ can get big extortion cash for a tawdry affair.

This Falwell stuff is BS... Falwell had an affair, got caught when pictures came out, his wife had an affair BUT the two of them went into business with the 'pool boy'...
I'm guess the real payoffs were made to keep unethical business practices from going public. If it had only been his wife having an affair 8 years ago (and they had come forward about it at the time) they would have been instantly forgiven by their flock...

Nobody would give a **** about you and your wife if you didn’t set yourself up as a voice of righteousness.
It’s kind of disingenuous to call them by a name that is usually reserved for the constituents of a church.

I’ve seen people get divorced for all kinds of reasons, and typically its not infidelity. I think what most people really need is to be more careful about who and why they marry.
Our faith should always be in God and not any man or institution of man because the devil works overtime to sow the seeds of disruption within the church and our hearts.

I don’t know what happened here and while it sounds bad and sure looks bad, he is a man and she is a woman and each will stand before their maker one day for judgment. It does not shake my faith in the least although it does reinforce my belief that my faith must remain solely in God and not man.
I pray those who did admire him or find faith in their organization/university will not lose focus on He who is most important.
“Man” will let you down, but God never will.
I wish Christians would not pile on in these absurd events.
There is no practical interest on the part of Falwell’s critics to affirm marriage, fidelity, or any other significant Christian value.
This is pure Alinsky. Compel the idealist— the Christian— to conform to their own standards absolutely. When they fail, organize the public to confront and destroy the idealist.
It is absolutely fine to disagree with conduct and not make a big social media virtue signaling event out of it.
The number of Christians I have heard virtue signal on this topic is disappointing.
Do not kid yourselves— they are coming for the rejection of all Christians from the public sphere. It is NOT just Falwell Jr.
since the picture of Jr and Donald Trump with the Playboy on the wall ... can you really say this is a surprise? He would not even say he was ashamed of that. Trump first! Maybe Liberty can be reformed without this guy in the way.
