yea..its called end of life....
So where does Worldometer and IndexMundi get their data from?
I guess we were just INCREDIBLY UNLUCKY to have someone in our family die of COVID.
Maybe Trump and the PTB, informed them that fraudulently inflating the numbers could be considered a federal crime against the people of the US, punishable at the highest levels?
Scamdemic of epic proportions. Everytime I put that stupid mask on I wonder how we got to this.
If I had that haircut, I could save money and cut my own hair..
So you are saying that a person who was crushed in a car accident died of COVID-19 if they are tested and show positive for COVID-19?
I got a covid joke. Oh, you probably won’t get it.
Fewer than.
I tend to agree with you however if the numbers were framed this way all along I also tend to believe the entire narrative...and reaction would have been different.
And sure for many...covid was probably a contributing factor but the truth is I don’t even know that for certain. There have been too many lies for me to make sense of any of it.
My aunt and uncle are nurse doctor in rural county not far from us.
They think its a bit of a joke.
Hospital shut down an entire floor to deal with COVID but at most theyve had 15 of 45 beds filled.
My aunt is really suspicious of the LACK of flu cases or deaths since the spring started.
161,000 x 6% = 9,660 deaths attributed only to COVID-19
Don't be dishonest. That is not the issue.
My grandfather years ago fell and broke his hip. Died. I hear that today that is not quite the death sentence it was 40 years ago. So yes - if he hadn’t broken his hip (or leg in your case), he would have lived.
At least until the next thing got him. He was 92 at the time.
And as others have posted, they also look at “excess deaths” over a period of time to estimate the number of dead due to Covid. Same as they estimate the number of deaths due to flu.
All of that said - just because there is a portion of people that are more at risk to dying from Covid, doesn’t mean that things need to be shut down for half a year!! Most people are healthy and need to work and provide for their families.
Take reasonable precautions. Limit your visits to sick and elderly relatives. Or have your get-togethers outside. We have more than “flattened the curve”. Our Governor acts like things won’t get back to normal until we are assured that NO ONE will ever die of Covid again. Nuts!
I read at the very beginning of this that most of the people who died already had less than a 1-yr life expectancy. That is, they had all sorts of health problems, and even among the elderly, a lot of them were already bed-ridden, dying of COPD or congestive heart failure, etc. and wouldnt have survived the year even without the virus.
My next door neighbor´s mother was 95 and bedridden, on every drug in the universe for her heart, kidneys, etc. (as well as having dementia), and she got the virus...and survived. She lived for another couple of months and has just died, as had been expected for some time. Im sure shes recorded as COVID-19.
The physician needs to determine why the person die of respiratory arrest or pneumonia. If a person with class IV heart failure dies from respiratory failure but shows no signs of infection outside of a blood test it probably should not be listed as a cause of death as the person is most likely in a constant state of respiratory distress.
My neighbors have been doing just fine for years - one with diabetes and one with a heart condition and overweight. But if they got Covid and died, dont tell me that it was their diabetes that killed them.
Same would go for the flu. If they got the flu and died, it was the flu that put them over the edge.
Yea, perhaps misleading. But do you think any of these people sub-coming to comorbidities with prior flu bugs would have caused the havoc we see today with shutting down the economy and the deaths turned into a political weapon? Why not this response in prior years? Nursing homes get cleaned out every year. Some years worse than others. Elderly people who are diseased do pass away. It's life. Why the hype this year? Why the dishonesty? Why can't the American people see through this?
What?? What?!?!? WTH???
Thanks for your post. A short paragraph of sanity in an ocean of know-nothing comments.
You/we are certainly in the minority here at good old FR, normally the land of the free and rational thinkers. I am a 98% with the FR viewpoint but they just dont get it on this virus. It is worse than the flu and unless new vaccines and some treatment options are developed quickly we are going to lose at least 200,000 - 400,000 or so over the next year or two to this product of a Chinese Biological Weapons lab.
My view: Trump made the right call at every decision point. Stick with him and tell Joe Biden and company to keep wearing those masks even we all know they reall dont do much good.
Strictly speaking, a "co-morbidity" is another condition present at the time. Nothing is implied about the degree to which each of two or more co-morbitities--the WuFlu, the car wreck, lung cancer, age. . .) actually contributed to the person's death. The relative percentages would have to be proven separately.
It's a call made by Medical Examiners all the time. You can imagine it comes up a lot in criminal and civil cases.
In other words, there's a real set of tools for figuring these things out. But it appears that the CDC, up to now, has felt no necessity for beginning to use them. I suspect someone has told them the jig is up, and they will have to start acting like scientists instead of Democratic saboteurs.
