A month after a devastating blast tore through Beirut, a moment of silence is planned for Friday, while rescue workers continue searching for a possible survivor in the rubble. A vigil and march were planned for Friday, as well as a moment of silence at 6:08 p.m., local time -- or 11:08 a.m. ET -- the moment that marked the time of the blast on Aug. 4. At least 191 people were killed and more than 6,000 injured when nearly 3,000 tons of ammonium nitrate ignited at the port in early August.

Has any reason been given about why there was all that Nitrate there? Was it for weapons or farming? Forgotten ISIS cache or??

I’ve been on this planet for 66 years and have yet to grasp the need, relevance or significance of “a moment of silence”. It reminds me of the people thinking that the “collective consciousness” at Woodstock chanting “NO RAIN” was going to stop a rainstorm. It didn’t. However, Christians praying did cause a storm to go around a stadium once. I get that.

I’ve not yet fully assimilated into the culture of those that inhabit this planet. Still trying...

It’s a substitute for prayer.

Used to be you could call for a moment of prayer but I guess that’s offensive now.

Were I in charge id just ask for a moment of prayer

Hamas, in fact the Lebanese army just found a few more tons stored nearby. Go to ME news links for more info. Our fake news will never report the Islamic terror campaign is still alive and well, Trump has done well in eliminating their terror on our soil.

I am really not a big fan of group prayer anyway. For me it’s a very personal “in your closet” sort of thing.

I understand but in that case you can just stand silently you are not required to pray. No one knows if you are praying or not.

After all this time?

Now water, no food?

Thanks!

I suspect that the owners had died of accidental deaths associated with bad behavior and the cargo was forgotten, until it wasn’t?
