Democrats sue over 'unlawful and arbitrary' ballot rejection in North Carolina

A coalition of Democratic groups aims to prevent disenfranchisement in the November general election.

A trio of Democratic groups sued the North Carolina State Board of Elections this week, alleging that the state is engaging in the "unlawful practice of rejecting absentee ballots based on irrelevant technicalities, and then arbitrarily denying certain voters the opportunity to address these minor errors."

According to the lawsuit, filed on Tuesday by the North Carolina Democratic Party, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, voters can currently correct mismatched signatures on questioned ballots, but if the ballot is missing a witness or the address of a witness, then it is rejected.

The suit notes that a suit filed in May held "that the enforcement of numerous North Carolina elections statutes in the November 2020 election violated numerous federal constitutional rights, including the right to vote protected by the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution." The current suit alleges that a Cure Memo issues by the North Carolina Board of Elections fails to remedy the issues.

Democrats are anxiously trying to do away with the requirement of a witness - they can steal ballots and mail them but that pesky "witness" requirement is cramping their style.

Why don’t any Republicans sue to block the law in California that allows vote harvesting?

It is not the state’s responsibility to remediate erroneous ballots as such errors would not result if the people had voted in person. It their responsibility to count the ones known to be valid.

Sorry folks, it is YOU who said there is no difference between mail and in person.

Mail-In Ballots should only be rejected once the vote(s) on the ballot can been determined and there is an inconsistency or some attribute of the ballot that makes it questionable to the favorable party’s election judge.

To the RATs there actually being a breathing person there at all is an unnecessary technicality.

Probably because CA is lost to the blue. Fights cost money. CA has to be worth the expense.

In other, related news, Democrats opposed the installation of locks on all doors to public and private buildings and vehicles.

The real crisis will occur when a democrat judge rules that ballots without postmark, or late postmark must be accepted because it’s a ‘sacred vote’ and any attempt to make voters follow ‘rules’ is only an attempt to ‘disenfranchise women & people of color’...and you know it WILL happen.
That’s when you will hear the sound of 50 million gun safes opening all at once.

“It’s okay to hate democrats.”

That thinking directly cost 7 congressional seats.

They’re following the Alinsky playbook by attempting to “overwhelm the system.” The system in this case is our elections. If they flood the system with erroneous ballots, they’ll have more opportunities to defraud than the opposition could possibly counter.

Probably because CA is lost to the blue.

Probably not.

There are potential seats that could go red in CA.

In November the rallying cry from Democrats will be, 'COUNT EVERY VOTE! EVERY VOTE MATTERS!'

Democrats will demand no vote, no matter how suspect, be rejected.

It's going to be a protracted nightmare.

The democrats can see the defeat right in front of them, that is why their Hail Mary was to flood the electoral system with nearly 100 million unverifiable mail ballots.

They want to destroy the election and declare themselves the winner-by-default.

The progs will be screaming impeachment while all the communist media will chanting “biden won, biden won, biden won.”

The riots, burn-loot-murder, tee-tee terrorists, prog “gun clubs,” SJWs roaming the streets with guns “peacefully protesting” just might overwhelm a lot of PDs.

At that point 10 U.S.C. §§ 251–255; prior to 2016, 10 U.S.C. §§ 331–335; amended 2006, 2007 might be the only way to preserve the Republic.

Absolutely and ain’t that too damn bad for them. The absentee ballot is what we have here in NC and you need to do it right or it gets rejected. If you are too stupid to do it right, should not be used.
In this sense it IS like showing up to vote and being recognized by poll persons that you are indeed eligible.

In my never to be humbled opine, if you cannot show up to vote in person, then don’t. ANYONE who has been to a grocery store, Lowes or Home Depot can show up and vote. If you truly ARE that scared, then just stay home. But do not demand that heaven and earth be moved for you to cast your uninformed ballot. OR do your absentee vote correctly.

True, I was thinking electoral votes, not congressional districts. Even when we held those seats, CA GOP never did much though.
