Combat tactics, Mr. Ryan. By turning into the path of the torpedo, the Captain closed the distance before it could arm itself.

He won't make that mistake again. As we're speaking, he is setting the next one up to arm itself the second it leaves the tube.

Naah. As a safety mechanism the torpedoes are required to travel a certain distance from the sub before they can arm.
