I thought this was the story of the sex toy store....
In the late 1950s the sun reached a peak solar storm cycle, never seen before. Near the same time this book chronicles evidence of massive solar storms now called micro novas, that periodically caused mass extinction. Supposedly the CIA did not want to cause a general scare, so censored this book, whilst shopping for academia to debunk the premise. That held the information at bay until the Youtube era.
