You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

Solution to our last puzzle. Simply scroll your cursor over the text while left clicking your mouse, and the words should appear.

ONE OF THE ADVANTAGES OF BEING DISORDERLY IS THAT ONE IS CONSTANTLY MAKING EXCITING DISCOVERIES. A.A.MILNE

Tough one ... had lots of false starts and had to reload several times. Experimented with various vowel combinations in the short words, then eventually hit a combo that worked in the 6th & 12th, then it all came spewing out from there ...

(Wasn't timing it, but perhaps 10-15 minutes)

Same for me. Just worked with different letter combinations until the author’s name became obvious. Then the rest fell into place.

Initially I thought I would not be able to get it.

First time I’ve done one of these ... I also tried playing around with the vowels in the two-letter words, and then somehow realized the letter combination for the two identical eight-letter words.

Yes, I think the first three letters of words six and ten should be a big clue, although I did not see it at the time.

Tough one. I took a gulp of VUII and that gave me a huge slice of WHNZIUVO, and after that it was just a lavish banquet.

Not the easiest one I have solved. But, not the most difficult either.

I used the most common letter to start myself off, but I was temporarily stymied by forgetting that there are indeed two letter words that end in Y.

Surprised for me it wasn’t too bad....
Double letter in word 15, and common letter...and done!

Took a quick stab in the middle, was correct and it all fell into place.

Good advice, probably from a fat person, however if the name is tied to a certain family business with same last name- author should expect less discretion in choice.<: <: <:

I’m not familiar with the author.

Not trivial. Common letter gives a starting point…

Tried 3 letter words for 6th word. Found one that started word 10. I stuffed myself to the finish.

Wow. I got this one in under 2 minutes. The easy one from yesterday took me FOREVER.

Thanks again for posting these. I don’t usually reply on the thread but I do these every single day and really look forward to them.

4 min.

Most common letter, 1st word, 9th word —> 13 word, stagger along.

Getting those two two-letter words at the beginning helped.

Interesting as this one opened up pretty good for me. The first 3 or 4 words were the key to me. I had a hunch for the first word which proved to be correct and it all fell into place after that.
