That's a question I dread, since consumer level dashcams are STILL an evolving tech sector and something of a minefield for shoppers. No matter the brand, they practically all are made in China, it comes down to the company's commitment to QA/QC - how serious are they about delivering a quality product that will last and customer service when things go sideways. What might have been a good brand for a good while may be crap to avoid by next month. The site below is a great starting point to find out what's going on in the world of dashcams.

They keep a running list of phony and counterfeit dashcams at that site. One thing I can say with certainty is I like the cams with internal capacitors instead and no batteries - they will stand hot climes much better, and GLASS multicoated lens, NOT plastic. Have had some success with Street Guardian USA - it's an Australian company but with a limited model selection. Their tech support has been directly reachable on the forum above.

Something I neglected to add - if a brand you are looking at is not listed at that forum site, it's highly probable it's a cheap ChiCom ripoff and not legit.
