This sucks!
Yep, and then there is the guy that fakes it in order to get 2 weeks off with pay...
Life is not a risk-free proposition.
“its spreading like wild fire in the office.”

If it is a “wildfire” situation it would not be unusual if they shut down altogether until it passes. A lot of businesses have done that.
One of the biggest mistakes was in the beginning when the government said you could stay home if you were high risk, if you were sick or if you were AFRAID you might get sick. You could collect unemployment for any of those situations. I dont know if there was a sunset provision for the if you were afraid but there shouldve been.
I just tried to buy new Dickies work pants at the Wal-mart, but the dressing rooms are closed, and I don’t feel like making a return trip if the pants don’t fit. So, no pants. At least I got sneakers.
That being said; I am among the fortunate souls who have been able to work from home for the past several months, so I am not dealing with the office protocols of symbolic masks and distancing, etc.
I hope this results in my employer (big bank in NYC) deciding to make my entire function permanently remote. I am even willing to cite my "fear" of returning to the office, taking public transit, etc. if necessary. If we have to wear masks and stay apart, then is it really "safe" to return to the office?
I will be remote through the end of the year, but I really want to relocate out of the NJ/NY metro area to a lower cost of living area in a free state while maintaining my NY salary, which can be done by working remotely permanently.
I figure the bank will save money and reduce the potential liability if there is an "outbreak" of positive tests by having as many people as possible working remotely.
For all the ninnies out there who are afraid of their own shadow, Im 72, have continued to work at 2 prison camps that have had various lockdowns due to Covid, not to mention coworkers who work other jobs where they were exposed and were quarantined for 2 weeks. So far, I have not gotten this and have worked 3-4 day weeks. If you stay inside only with your family, you have just as much chance of getting it as those who go out into the fresh air. Besides, 90-95% have no symptoms or very mild symptoms!
Im not telling people with lung or heart conditions to expose themselves, but for the average healthy person there is minimal risk! The bird flu & the H1N1 didnt cause this much panic & this has been milder than them so far. The CDC had to downgrade its figures bc they counted thousands who died during Covid, but did not die of Covid. We need a good dose of common sense & a much higher dose of trust in the LORD!
By the way, Im an RN. Forgot to mention that my job is dealing with the sick!
