I’m Eagle Scout Class of ‘63, and this makes me puke. At 70, I still carry my laminated ID card, and am proud of what I did, but this is sickening.
I have my Eagle medal, card and patch in a shadow box hanging on my living room wall. As you said, there is pride in that achievement. I earned it. The sad sick spectacle of modern Scouting can't take that away. But I still lament that the virtues that Baden-Powell wanted to instill into young men has been cast aside for political expedience.
The worst thing that happened to the Boy Scouts was accepting corporate funding. It was only a matter of time after that before Scouting was being dictated to out of political correctness.
