Country Music legend Jerry Jeff Walker has passed. RIP
My college them song was “Pi—in in the Wind”.
RIP Jerry Jeff.
RIP good Sir.
I played “London Homesick Blues” a million times when I was in college in Boston. Couldn’t wait to get home to OK.
Wrote Mr. Bojangles and a bunch of other great songs. I never cared much for his singing, though. RIP
Cancer sucks.
RIP
RIP.

When your down on your luck

IIRC, "Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother" was something else I heard a lot.
Sad to hear this.
Sangria Wine - Desperados Waiting - Gettin By - Up Against The Wall
Backsliders Wine - Get It Out - Wheel - Little Bird
& London Homesick Blues (The Armadillo Song)
JJW- R.I.P.
“The train next mornin’ blew a lonesome sound
As if she sang the blues of what she took from town
And all that I recall that was said when I was young
There’s no one else could really sing those songs he sung.”
RIP.

From the live version: “...’M’ is for the pickup truck I drive, ‘O’ is for the...”
Those dudes knew how to party.
When I was stationed in England in the 80s, London Homesick Blues got played a LOT.
Loved that song. I went to college in Austin and had the pleasure of hearing him play it live once.
Ill substantiate the rumor that the English sense of humor is drier than the Texas sand.
Lol.
Not available on most jukeboxes. Now that I think about the lyrics, playing it could start a fight in some places.

“Viva Terlingua” was one of the first albums I ever owned. On vinyl.
Jerry Jeff music is 1000 times better than today’s pop country. I highly recommend giving “Viva Terlingua” a listen, at least. Even Gary P. Nunn makes a contribution to the effort. So many great songs, “Sangria Wine” is terrific, “Desperados Waiting for a Train” is chilling, and “Up Against the Wall” and “London Homesick Blues” are classics that have never gotten the recognition they deserve. Today’s soul-less pop country and its CMA Awards are a joke by comparison.
Only got to see JJW in person once. What a show.
So many icons of my youth are moving on.
