I must say that one of my only regrets as a hockey fan is that I didnt have a chance to see the great #4 play in person.
Mine too. When the Hartford Whalers entered the NHL I sprung for a not-cheap seat to their first game in Pittsburgh, just so I could tell my grandchildren that I had seen Gordie Howe play in person.
He was 51 years old with a big shock of gray hair.
Honestly, just about the dirtiest player I had ever seen in person. Maybe at that point in his career he had to be.

I was one of the fortunate hockey fans to see most of the greats from the 60’s play. My father was a regular at MSG.
