I used to think the same thing until they started beating us leaving Trump Rallies 4 years ago. ANd it irritates the heck out of Slow Joe and then he says crotchety old man things. Now I approve.
It has been five decades since I brought a guest conservative speaker to my local school (I am old.. :-).
The lefties shouted down my speaker.
Lesson learned—I stopped playing nice fifty years ago....

In 2004, leftists massed around a GWB rally in order to cut off our access to the parking lot when it was over. They were menacing and glowering. I had to request an escort from 2 young men in uniform in order to get to our car. Others were forced to scurry the long way around to avoid them or to travel in a large group with the men on the perimeter.
No one was beaten, then, but one of the young soldiers deflected an elbow aimed for my head by the local Dem leader of the opposition. I am 5’2”, female and in 2004 I was 61. The Dem was around 40 and a tall, fit male.
Their bullying and thuggish behavior has been around a long time.
