LIMA (Reuters) - Peru’s Congress voted to oust President Martin Vizcarra on Monday in an impeachment trial over corruption allegations, the second such effort to remove him in a matter of months.

apparently the people of Peru weren't behind this impeachment. Peru has a covid death rate of 100 per 100,000 and is the second largest producer of mined copper in the world, beating China in 2016.

to quote US News and World Report, "The political crisis comes in the midst of the fight against the pandemic - with Peru having one of the world's worst per capital death rates - and with the mining country headed for its deepest economic contraction in a century.":

I have the conceit of a typical American.
I saw the headline that Peru Congress was voting in favor of the ouster of....”
...And I was so sure the subject was going to be Joe Biden or Donald Trump.

I have to remember, other countries have their own concerns.
Most of the smaller one could give a flip what happens over here. If they don’t have direct trade relations with us, they don’t have much reason to care.
