I played drums in a big band / swing band as a side gig for a few years. You know, honestly, I needed the money back then. I wouldn’t do it now. :)
Mixing is an individual taste. There is nothing *wrong* with this at all, I just like a somewhat bolder sound.
EG The first time I heard THIS I thought it was way overproduced until I heard it live.
Then there is THIS that sounds nothing like the recording live, yet is near perfect in both renditions.
An example of (to me) less than ideal production is this where the producer is too much a part of the end product.
Thanks. I don’t disagree. I played all of the instruments so I didnt hurt anyone’s feelings there with the mix. :). I do tend to lose the vocals in a mix (especially if it is me singing)..... but I liked her vocal on this (even though she isn’t Judith).... and it is just my second time recording her. Did not want to hurt her feelings either. :). Thanks for your comments. Appreciate it!
