In. Brought over from the old thread. Got an email an hour or so ago. Maybe someone can help me read between the lines here. This is odd.
“It sounds like your conversation went well today with Xxxxx. I just heard from Yyyyy and we would actually like you to meet with one more person, Zzzzz, Sr Director of Engineering. The team feels you are a better fit for a role on his brand new team (Zzzzz right now is a team of 1). Zzzzz can tell you more about the role on his team and what his team is doing. Can you let me know your availability to meet with him?”
Not sure if this is good or bad.

Well, what was the title of the person over the team you were applying to? Higher than Sr.Director of Engineering?
If you are being poached off by the Sr. Director for assignment to his team it might be advancement before you have even been hired. A Small team means you might get to write your ticket within the constraints of his project. (You would also be more responsible for the success or failure.)
I would explore it and take it as a positive as long as they are not asking you to do something outside your expertise, or something that you cannot learn within the position.
