Then we pray we hold the Senate and stall for two years until we can take the House back.

Not sure the Dems can complete the takeover in two years - esp. since gun confiscation is high on their agenda.
It is not doable at present and maybe they beat their heads against the wall for a year or two.

The Insurrection Act is not extra-Constitutional. It doesn't allow him to supersede the Constitution. It's a law, subject to the courts (how's that turning out?) It isn't the magic that most Freepers seem to think that it is. Here is the language of Title 10:

Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.

Even if he tried, he would be Impeached and removed (this time).

Let me put this way: Trump failed to even control his own DOJ and FBI. Wray, Sessions, Barr...….who appointed them and gave them their jobs?

This was a failure of monumental proportions, and now we are reaping the poisonous harvest.

Declaring martial law is akin to declaring civil war. I am not even sure the US military will obey the orders at this point, because the DoD knows the courts will not back the legality of the orders.

Therefore, to act under the President's authority would make them subject to criminal penalties, imprisonment, and war crimes charges themselves.

The time to act was 4 years ago. We had nice rhetoric about "draining the swamp" - but that's all it was.
