That’s surprising, considering some library association decided to rename the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children’s Literature Award because some of her books contained uncomplimentary comments about Indians. In the original book, the “only good Indian is a dead Indian” comment showed up a couple of times, but Indians were shown in a generally favorable light. The comment was there to express a common attitude of white settlers. While it was a bit extreme, one can understand why some would say that considering problems some white settlers had with Indians.

Of course, to get that one would have to read in context, and who does that anymore? /s

Outside of Paramount, I have no idea who these other companies are, so I have no idea how they would handle the books. If they are faithful to the books, it could be something interesting. If they are not faithful, then it won’t be LHOTP.

Laura’s mother was terrified of Indians because of the Dakota War in Minnesota in 1862 which killed at least 800 white settlers.
