Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers on Thursday slapped down the state's Republican-controlled legislature repeal of his statewide mask mandate by issuing a new order.
"Every step of the way, our statewide strategies to contain this virus and prevent the spread have been met with lawsuits, political rhetoric and obstruction," Evers said in a video posted to Twitter. "Unfortunately, that happened again today, when Republicans in the legislature came in to vote down our state's public health emergency and end requiring face coverings in public places."
"That's why today we will be issuing a new public health emergency order requiring face coverings in public places," Evers added.
Evers' comments come shortly after the Republican legislature voted to repeal Evers' statewide mask mandate, with Wisconsin Republicans arguing that the Democratic governor exceeded his authority by continuing to extend the statewide mandate without legislative approval every 60 days.
In response, Evers has contended that due to the ongoing pandemic and how it has continued to infect residents in the state, he has the authority to issue several emergency health orders and impose mask mandates.
In his video posted to Twitter, Evers also touched on how repealing the statewide mask mandate has been opposed by numerous organizations and residents across the state.

Wisconsin is a blue state now
Does Wisconsin’s legislature have power of contempt?
Wisconsin recall to the unrepentant.
Recall time.
I wonder how many of these states elected their government the same way we elect the President and would still have Dem Governors, etc.
Citizens in all states need to work with their state lawmakers to make the following changes to their state constitutions regarding quarantines imo.
State constitutions need to be amended to put time limits on quarantines.
State constitutions also need to be amended to make state health officials elected by popular vote.
Constitutionally time-limited lockdowns also need to automatically trigger special recall elections for governors, mayors and health officials who order quarantines, also state lawmakers.
Finally, constitutions need to require people planning to run for state and local offices to escrow a refundable "recall deposit" before becoming a candidate, the deposit fully paying in advance for their possible recall elections if they are elected, amounts determined by law.
Dictators just being Dick Tators....

We will never be “allowed” to get these erfing things off our faces!
So take them off without the King’s Permission.
On his selection, much like Xiden’s, Evers said he would not abide by Wisconsin law, nor its constitution. He later back tracked, but he has already revealed himself. The Lt. Gov is an avowed communist and a criminal.
Evers wants to be a dictator and is doing his best to prove himself in that department.
Does Wisconsin’s state Constitution have language for removing/impeaching a governor?
Impeach him. Or at least remove his ability to issue emergencies.
We have the same problem here in Kentucky with our governor. I want the legislators to impeach Beshear but I don’t think they will even though they hold super republican majorities in both houses.
