Exactly, fall hit your head on the golf ball in the alligators mouth and it’s adios mofo.
Don’t drink and golf.
Unless of course, it is an emergency.
Even my dad, who is notoriously cheap, knew better than to go after a golf ball in the water in Florida. He picked up all his practice balls when the water hazards were dredged.
Did NOT want to take a stroke.
Bet he was retired from we-don’t-have-pond-gators-in-NY.
At least the story specified golf ball instead of saying: “Searching for his balls.”

Lucky he wasn’t eaten by an alligator too
I’ve been to that golf course. Gators are part of the water hazards, so I’d take the penality. One time a gator thought it was an egg... and ate it...
But it's a GAME, not real life. No game is worth your life.
That's interesting. I'd have thought a water body like that would stratify from mid spring through mid fall in FL. Cold under 10-15 ft. down, by summer, but very warm above the thermocline. ?
And I thought it odd to drag a drunk to the bank after driving into the water..
I golfed on Hilton Head... and that is NOT exactly “odd”
That right there is an itty bitty snake compared to what I’ve seen

What the f...? Doing that renders golf what Mark Twain called it: ruining a perfectly good walk.
Florida. Who can remember what month it was? The connecting canals were warm enough. I recall going through a culvert which was deep enough for fish, so it may have been the rainy season...summer/fall. South Florida could get torrential rain, daily. Warmer water may have drained off. The water got creepy dark and chilly really fast. No shallows. They were apparently “ mined” for the coral used to build the overpasses. You could find two of them for every overpass around Homestead. They were dug from equipment on floating platforms. A diving friend found a piece of excavating equipment on its side at the bottom of one of them. Also a Mason jar with some bones and beads in it. Probably from the Haitian population.
” Probably had a MI or stroke( no pun intended). Nothing was said about his co- morbidities. Should be a coroners case. Golf course operators would want to know. Maybe someone clocked him over the head...stole his wallet and dumped him in the pond... “
This just in from the Kommandant in Thief: “We gather today to mo-mo-mino-mur-be sad about the totally unnecessary death, the murr-mu-mor-mimble-killing, really, by the perious intimisrta-admonif-(where am I and who the hell are all these people?) -the 5 thousand millionth sonofabitch to be killed by this Covert virus...I...I think I did a peepee again...Jill? Where’s my sister? Jill?”
