Fugitive Caught By Police After Leaving Hideout to Buy Call of Duty Game
Screen Rant ^ | BY CURT HUTSON

Clint Butler, a UK fugitive, escaped from the HMP Spring Hill open prison in Buckinghamshire in November 2020. He was originally serving a 17-year sentence for robbery and firearm possession, but the allure of the first-person shooter was too much for Butler, who was arrested after coming out of hiding to purchase the game.

Butler and a friend took a trip to Martineau Way in Birmingham, England to buy Call of Duty, but were confronted by two police officers who noticed they were acting strangely. They questioned their choice to go shopping despite lockdown mandates, to which Butler replied, "I’ve come to get the new Call of Duty because I can’t sit around in lockdown." After following up on the fake name he gave officers, things turned violent when Butler kicked one of the officers in the groin before attempting to escape.

Butler was apprehended once again. His original sentence has been extended by an additional 13 months for escaping and another six months for assaulting an officer. There area few lessons to be learned here, the most important of which is to simply obey the law. However, if you are on the lam, maybe consider downloading the games you want to play. “It’s a good game...”

Assuming that he can take the game into the slammer, an extra 13 months behind bars may not be a bad trade.

I downloaded Call of Duty: Warzone, a free version of COD.

Took a few days, but I don’t see any need to anywhere to purchase it.

It should all be downloadable.

You are in a store that is open during “corona lockdown”.

And this is suspicious activity?

And what’s your name, hmmm?

Their fishing expedition paid off.

How many innocent people have they likewise harassed for daring to go shopping and having to surrender their papers to the police?
