Mike Smith said the video board may have spooked the horse seeing a “dinosaur.” That may have been the cause of the lugging. Blinkers?

Beautiful race. Life is Good looks to be at least 1 hand shorter than the rest of the field, too. Breezed to win 1 1/8 miles wire-to-wire by 8 lengths.

I wish they could fix the problems with these artificial tracks. I happened to scroll through the cable guide last week and saw a 5 hour marathon of European races all edited together so no delays between races. All on grass (but I didn’t watch them all). No major spills but one tossed rider (in Europe they have some races that include jumping, with more turns than a formula 1 race). And I guess down under they run races the opposite direction.

Didn’t look like he wore blinkers on that race, so I wouldn’t mess with what isn’t broke. Stop putting stupid animations on the tote board during a race!

i saw that interview...the colt kinda did the same thing in his second race....Bob Baffert is gonna have them turn the board on for his morning works...hes still a little green...but man, looks like he can really carry his speed.

Well sure it could distract him - but not inherently more than any other horse. But he breezed to a big win at that length at that age (barely really 3 years old as you probably know all horses age a year on Jan 1, so he could actually still be biologically less than 3 years old). Don’t mess with the equipment would be my call. That could prove much more detrimental than the tote board. He’s doing great as is.
