Are there any public schools that have no masks and no social distancing? I know various states have eliminated their mask mandates but schools are often independent of state control (eg Texas school districts). The need to “protect the children” will be a narrative that will be difficult to overturn. Personally, I seek out activities for my children that have no protections for them from the deadly Coronavirus.

With respect to variants, have you been following what has been going on in a certain area in S. America where I think 70 percent of the town had Covid. Then recently everyone caught a variant that has overloaded their medical system? There might be information over at the 60 minutes news magazine website.
While listening to the EIB network yesterday, there was a CDC “public service” spot that went, “Concerning variant blah blah blah experts say blah blah blah let’s not let our guard down blah blah blah...”
It was done by a woman relating her conversation with her “wife”. It was not an EIB parody but a standard station public service advert. It is interesting that they got in lesbian marriage/parenting acceptance with the trendy masking equals good citizenship propaganda.

We certainly can discuss if that is true when looking at other real pandemics, but that is exactly my point - in this case kids are not impacted significantly. So why are we even having a conversation about not letting kids go to in-person school? Their risk is as close to zero as you can get.
Kids are not an issue in schools and that’s a worthy and needed conversation subsumed by this flu nonsense.

I think PDJT is treading on risky political ground since it is mostly R’s who are not willing to get the experimental gene therapy.
I live in a midwest metro area with ~210K people. For 2019 there were 1390 deaths. For 2020 we had 92 covid deaths, primarily the elderly. We are at 134 now.
