You were at the Winnipeg one too? Wow....memories. Our group of about 15 or so was a group of American and Canadians and I will never forget it. I thought I was nuts at the time but it was so so worth it. Even in freezing February. :)
Yup, that’s where we were. As I remember the weather forecasts were poor (overcast) right until a few hours before dawn. We were all prepared for a big disappointment. As it turned out, was absolutely stunning. We found a field somewhere to the west of Winnepeg to set up. It was really cold but we couldn’t care.
It was strange driving on the long, straight, flat roads. The wind blew a stream of snow across the road maybe a foot thick, just enough to obscure the road markings.
