At first, the crew "heard a strange noise and rushed to the top of the ship" thinking they may have hit a container
The yearlong aggression of orca pods against boats off the coast of Spain and Portugal continues unabated.
By October of last year, there were 33 bizarre "revenge" attacks by killer whales off the coast of Spain and Portugal and it seems they’re not done yet.
A video taken by fishermen in the Straights of Gibralter on April 3 shows the men valiantly fighting off a pod of the angry sea mammals as they attack the boat and break its rudder.
In a video published by The Daily Mail, the captain, Antonio Busse, 40, is seen fighting off the orcas with a pole while screaming at them to "piss off!" "Mamma Mia!" and "get off the (bleeping) boat!"
Other crew members are seen throwing items into the water to try and frighten away the angry pod of four, to no avail, and one large killer whale can be seen swimming underneath the boat — causing the crew to scream in fear. Another video shows the orcas threateningly circling the boat and breaching the surface nearby.

They are called “Killer Whales” because they are nice right?
Not sure why, maybe cause we eat their fish. In any case tomorrow a thread on the effectiveness of Orca spray vs firearms, and the proper weapon to carry in Orca country.

TV “journalists” are the least literate of all.
Black Whales Matter
Bad Shamu! Bad! Bad! ;)
When I lived in southern CA I went on a Whale Watching cruise in San Diego Bay.
We saw one whale off in the distance do the breach and twirl in the air and go back down ,which was pretty cool.
But the absolute BEST part was when a Navy sub surfaced - RIGHT NEXT TO US! To this day, I’m not sure it even knew we were there! That was a heart-stopper, but we were all OK.
Turns out the Navy guys LOVE to mess with the tourist boats when the opportunity presents itself. ;)
Good point, but I always thought it interesting that there are no known fatal attacks on humans committed by orcas (in the wild).
Orcas are a really peculiar species with very finicky eating habits. Do you know some Orcas will only eat a very specific kind of fish? Others will only eat a specific kind of mammal, like sea lion, and it’s very uncommon for one kind of orca to eat outside its preferred diet. This diet differentiation is always ‘pod based.’ So, depending on what pod the orca lives in, that will determine its diet even though there may be abundant supplies of either of the food sources.
I don’t know if that’s unprecedented in nature, but it is unusual with most animals, particularly apex predators, being opportunistic eaters.
So long and thanks for all the fish?
These guys might want to start carrying some M-80s onboard.
Time to introduce Mister Blackfish to Mister 10-Gauge
Seal chasers they are great fun
I remember an old SEA HUNT episode about Killer whales killing a diver. Mike Nelson (Lloyd Bridges) declares “They need to be wiped out!”
Beat me to it. :)
is there an actual video of the incident in Spain?...all I see is some incident off the Florida coast
I thought he said looks like i picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue
