Tucker Carlson slammed Utah's Republican governor Spencer Cox on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" for supporting a college scholarship program created by the NBA's Utah Jazz, that discriminates prospective students based on race.
CARLSON: We have talked a lot about identity politics on the show. Not because we want to talk about an ugly subject. Race is an ugly subject. It’s not resolvable. There is a lot to say about it. It’s just a fact. Obsessing over it gets you nowhere. The left is obsessed with tribalism—dividing people in little groups by what they look like, dehumanizing them and treating them not as individuals but members of a herd—it’s disgusting. And yet, suddenly it’s the rule and corporate America certainly in politics and again it’s the currency of the left and you see it from Democrats all the time. What is shocking and really dispiriting is when you see it from Republicans. We call that out because we should. These are the people that should be pushing back and defending America from tribalism.
Just yesterday Spencer Cox, the Republican governor of Utah was asked a question about a sponsorship program created by the NBA team the Utah Jazz. The team’s program gives out a scholarship to one of Utah's in-state universites every time it wins a game. That is great. Here’s the part that’s hard to believe—it’s legal and it’s totally immoral—that scholarship is given on the basis of skin color. Kids with the wrong skin color, no matter how disadvantaged they are or no matter how qualified they are, cannot get a scholarship because they are the wrong color. So a normal person would have pushed back against it because it is racist, obviously, it should be illegal but Spencer Cox the Republican governor of Utah is totally fine with it.

You’re allowed to start a scholarship fund for just white men if you want, but for some reason it’s usually only done by trolls with no actual interest in supporting higher education in their community.
It’s not taxpayer dollars, so the Utah Jazz can give the scholarships to whom they want.

Any organization that so chooses may set up a scholarship fund, and make it restricted to a certain set of demographics. The transgression on the part of the Utah governor came when he seemingly enthusiastically endorsed the clearly delimited scholarship plan, which definitely DOES exclude persons that do not fit the demographic.
Colleges and universities encourage these scholarship plans, particularly those that have very restrictive qualifications, as they may rarely or never be utilized by the targeted demographic, but meanwhile the board of regents has these assets on hand to use for collateral in their own expansion plans. The endowment funds that many of these more prestigious institutes is staggering, yet cannot be used because of these pre-existing conditions set up decades or sometimes centuries before.
So we've learned 2 things from this thread so far:
1. Bad things happen when dumb people run for Governor
2. Dumb people need an /s after a sentence to figure out if it is sarcastic or not.
That’s true, but usually things that exclude people based solely on skin color and not favored or supported by Government....
The point is, no one is claiming they can’t do it, but someone who is a governor of a state should not be supporting and endorsing it.
I’ve seen scholarships offered by Italian civic groups; they don’t care what people think about it.
For the life of me I can’t figure out why white people would watch basketball; I wonder the same about football as well now.

Reverse the situation, if it was an all white scholarship what would the reaction from Governor ?? I think we all know the answer....
If the goal is racial harmony, separating people by race is wrong regardless of the reason...
And there’s so many of them it’s so many cities are on fire and being looted and people being murdered.
A half assed job is more dangerous then no job at all being don.
People have to wise up to the quota and token system is a utopian idea and realize Utopia does not exist.
