The weirdest things (to some people) that I’ve eaten in my life, so far:

Chocolate Covered Ants

Alligator

Rattlesnake

Rocky Mountain Oysters

Bobcat (like pork in color and texture)

Raccoon (I make a mean ‘Coon & Kraut’ in the Crock Pot)

Bear and Elk, on a regular basis

Wild Turkey & Pheasant

Morel and Golden Oyster Mushrooms, on a regular basis

Cannot tolerate cleaning and cooking rabbit or squirrel. Blech! Too rat-like for me. :(

A concept I understand is reaching the US. A restaurant which serves only canned food, Can the Can

I always thought it was strange to be able to buy canned tamales. And, I have in the past, spent time trying to find some brown bread in a can, I think it had raisins in it? It was very good. Do they still make it?

When I was a young child, my parents were avid mushroom hunters, and we would often have Morels and the Oyster mushrooms, plus “inky caps” that grew in the side yard.

My dad figured out a way to dry out the oyster mushrooms, then they could be used “later”. I don’t know the details.

Very much a New England thing, I guess. It has never occurred to me that it might seem strange to people. Very ordinary to me.

Wait a minute! I’ve had Poontang, and it wasn’t in a can.

Should I have said that?

Still have a few P-38s floating around. When my daughters were around 10 or 12 years old, I gave them prepping Christmas stocking stuffers that include P-38s, emergency thermal blankets among other things.

Hi. I hope you are doing well.

Fun thread...

Chocolate Covered Ants

Alligator

Rattlesnake

Rocky Mountain Oysters

Wild Turkey & Pheasant.

All yummy.

Don’t like possums,raccoons or bear.

Hunted them all.

Quail and grouse too, are great.

My 2 cents.
