I would really be interested to read up on the jurisprudence on this kind of thing. On one hand, she’s under no obligation to answer anyone’s questions much less grant individual interviews. BUT, if she does grant individual interviews, can she base the decision to grant or deny those interviews on the basis of race?
I would be shocked if that specific question has ever been put to a court. But, I’m wagering it it were put to a court, it may not end the way Lightfoot wanted. Clearly, if it was a white politician foreclosing black reporters, there would have been an injunction granted already.
How about only carging municipal fees to black a d brown? That guy who talked about content of character being more important than color of skin might not appreciate where his movement has arrived.
