When receiving a call I didn’t want to deal with but needed to answer.
I would scream into the phone that I must be in a bad cell and cannot hear them.
Almost always they would scream back to call them later.
Hopefully there wouldn’t be anyone around to call the cops; artfully though, just clear your throat two or three times and hang up.
