Amen. The defeatists contribute nothing to the cause, but when victory inevitably arrives they’ll be there wanting to share in its spoils. It’s not that they’re necessarily wrong in their cynicism, but that they refuse to even join the fight against evil because of that cynicism. It becomes an excuse for not risking anything to fight. See my tag line for Edmund Burke’s famous quote about this phenomenon.
Remember, many of these same people said, “We’re never going to get to the truth of the lab-engineered origin of the virus. No one will be held accountable anyway….blah….blah…blah.” Now look where we suddenly are on that topic, yet as recently as a few weeks ago the usual Eeyores were writing off positive stories on it as well.
I shudder to think what would have happened if the defeatists had been in charge of the D-Day landings. They probably would have gotten back on the landing craft and sailed away. “The Germans are too dug in”…”They have the cliffs and we’ll never make it up there without being shot to pieces”…”This will be just like Dunkirk”… etc.

Now, perhaps some will say Kerik is a dreamer and a B.S. artist...but that's an entirely different argument than saying this is coming from Mr. Hoft. He simply wrote it up.

As Americans, we have no better example than our own country’s fight for liberty. I see a clear parallel on our side today to the colonists who argued for remaining loyal to the British crown, and the much smaller group who remained faithful to the fight for independence. Just as today, the naysayers thought it was an impossible fight, and frankly used their cynicism as an excuse for their unwillingness to risk relative comfort for a greater cause. And as we all know, the war for independence appeared hopeless, before victory was finally achieved.
Given that history, I don’t understand how any true American patriot can be a defeatist. People like that make me sick, and they are completely irrelevant to our righteous cause as they contribute nothing to it, yet they attempt to demoralize those who insist on remaining engaged in the fight.
While I know they don’t intend it this way, I see the “Lucy with the football” BS as little different from Tokyo Rose’s propaganda. The effect, in the end, is the same. Stop trying to demoralize the “troops.”
Very nice post and I guess it was a good thing the Internet wasn't around during the Revolutionary War period of 1775-1783 when Washington's Army was suffering setback after setback.
The defeatists would have been advocating that Washington's Army just give up and learn to accept British rule.
Let us be reasonable. If somehow, audits revealed that Trump won Georgia and Arizona, say, even the other swing states, giving Trump a nominal 270+ electoral vote win— there is no provision for evicting Biden and installing Trump in the White House. Ain’t gonna happen.
The best that we can hope for is the tide turning red in 2022 as the electorate realizes how the media and their cronies in the DNC have made fools of them. Even then it won’t be a tidal wave, but maybe a high tide.

I understand what you’re saying. But please do not confuse being a defeatist with being a realist.
So what’s the difference between a defeatist and a realist? A defeatist abandons the field at the very first sign of trouble. A realist instead looks at patterns, and past history. And from that he makes an honest, educated guess.
One nice thing about Free Republic is that JimRob allows many different conservative viewpoints. Cheerleaders are welcome. And doubters are welcome too.
It will also increase the fear factor of this illegitimate government, so people need to be wary at it lashing out.
To be clear, some of the Democrat operatives know they stole the election, but the vast majority of their stupid ignorant constituency do not know this, and cannot be convinced of it even if proof comes out.
