Vice President Kamala Harris dropped in at the Capitol Pride Walk And Rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
The state of play: Harris and second gentleman, Doug Emhoff, joined the crowd, who welcomed them with cheers, according to press reports.
The visit had not been on the vice president's public schedule.
The big picture: Pride celebrations are taking place across the country this weekend, a year after many similar events were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
What they're saying: “We need to make sure that our transgender community and our youth are all protected. We need, still, protections around employment and housing,” Harris said. “There is so much more work to do, and I know we are committed.”

I was wondering, why doesn’t the PRIDE Rainbow Flag have a Brown Stripe?
Really? The VP of the United States (by thievery)?
What are they doing? To me it seems they’re pretending to be marionette puppets. All that’s missing are the strings.
And why is she always wearing men’s coats or sports jackets?
Very odd.
What does stumbling on one’s tip toes mean neurologically?
Democrats sure are obsessed with their queers!
Perhaps she could drop down at the border. She has a plane that will take her there for free. It is called Air Force Two.
Fashion is subjective. I think she looks fine. She's not trying too hard unlike Michelle Obama did. Anyway, Joe Biden gave Kamala Harris a job. She was supposed to go to the border. She didn't do that. She may not have wanted to do that. But that's part of the deal of being VP. Joe could send her to a funeral of a President in Congo because Joe "can't make it". But that is what the VP is supposed to do. She represents the President when he is unable to show up in person.
I find females playing male dress up obnoxious. Every pic I see of Harris she wearing a mans sport coat.
WTF is up with that?
