CNN's chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour revealed on Monday she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Amanpour, 63, shared news of her cancer battle at the top of the latest installment of her CNN International show.
'I've had successful major surgery to remove it, and I am now going through several months of chemotherapy for the very best possible longterm prognosis, and I am confident,' the veteran reporter said matter-of-factly into the camera.

Ovaries do weird things.
She was 63 23 years ago.
High risk women should consider getting a preventative hysterectomy.
The Palestinians (Jordanians) are doing great things in chemotherapy. She should go there and get the best care possible.
Isn’t she Iranian? I don’t disagree with your sentiment, however.
They can ask for an inhibin test if past menopause.
High Inhibin does not mean you have cancer but it can mean something strange is going on.
Some tumors that produce inhibin are benign. Others turn out not to be benign.
Also if it runs in your family you can get an ultrasound every year to check progress of your female parts.
Or in Iran with
her real love
She’s an America despiser. Pffft. I don’t care.
I’m praying for her complete recovery and fulfillment of the Scripture that says ‘does not the goodness of God lead to repentance?’
I wish the good lord would take them all out!!
And her name is Christiane. She is anything but.
A Da Vinci robotic surgery is a lot easier to recover from than the kind of surgery your grandmother had back in the 60s.
Although, some reports indicate there are more incidents of vaginal cuff tears.
So pick your surgeon wisely.
I approve that message!
The initial chemo with hysterectomy will keep it at bay for 5-7 years. But they never can remove every last cell. It will go dormant for years and then "seed" itself and return in the liver, pancreas, and stomach lining. At that point you've got 6 months tops.
What about if it was caught early on and had not spread outside of the parts that were removed?
Beware that even with a full hysterectomy, women can still get ovarian cancer.

I have a good neighbor friend that had surgery for ovarian cancer earlier this year and is still undergoing chemo, years after having a full hysterectomy. Her doctors also told her that it might come back again even after all she's gone through.
Comment self deleted.
“You still have a small risk of what’s called primary peritoneal cancer. The peritoneum is a covering that lines the abdominal organs, and is close to the ovaries. Since the peritoneum and ovaries arise from the same tissues during embryonic development, it’s possible that cancer could result from the cells of the peritoneum.”
but she’s got great cheekbones
I am amazed she was not gone from lung cancer a long time ago.
